Context and resources
Families And Community
The Nation's history describes Eastern Creek communities rebuilding through extended family networks after removal. It recounts landless Creek people joining landholding families and communities, and churches preserving language through hymns and shared meals. This is the Nation's account of community continuity in Alabama; it does not define the histories of every Creek people or government.

A Government And Its Name
The Nation dates its organization around Pike and Coffee Counties to 1981. It says it was first established as the Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe East and later changed its name twice to distinguish itself from neighboring governments in Alabama and Georgia. That institutional date concerns a modern government. Its account places its ancestors in the Deep South long before then.
